*The following two keynote lectures have been invited: A reverse flow system for the sediment flushing from large reservoirs (Dr. Tamotsu Takahashi, Professor Emeritus of Kyoto University, Japan), and Mechanism and prediction of bank failure (Dr. Yitian Li, Professor of Wuhan University, China)

*The special session WISA (Workshop on International Sediment Advancements) will be open to the public. The following guests will deliver lectures on the recent advances in sediment research: Prof. Manfred Speafico (University of Berne, Switzerland), Prof. Gerrit Basson (University of Stellenbosch, South Africa), Prof. Rollin H. Hotchkiss (Brigham Young University, USA), Prof. Mike Stone (University of Waterloo, Canada), Prof. Giampaolo Di Silvio (Universita di Padova, Italy) and Prof. Hajime Nakagawa (Kyoto University, Japan).

*The technical tour on Sept.4 will take you to several hotspots famous for sediment-related issues of western Japan. You will also have a chance to enjoy a cruise excursion and a leisurely lunch on the Lake Biwa, the largest freshwater lake in Japan.
